Archived Announcements

  • Wednesday 11 October, 7:30am, The Auckland Club: NZISF breakfast seminar by Hira Sathu, on ethical and legal issues of war driving.
  • Friday 6 October, Bradley Anstis, Director of Research and Product Development at Marshal Software, will give a guest lecture on the topic of "Content Filtering Technology".
  • 20 September, 5-7pm, "Science@work" Careers Fair. List of corporate exhibiters, recruiters, and presenters.
  • 14 September, 7:30am, The Auckland Club: NZISF breakfast seminar by Judge David Harvey, on recent developments in criminal and copyright prosecutions.
  • 15 Aug 06: Lectures might be cancelled on the following days: Friday 25 August (the last day before the mid-semester break), Monday 11 September (the first day after the mid-semster break), Monday 25 September (this would require V Kunta's permission), and Wednesday 27 September. We will discuss this proposal in class on Wednesday 16 August, and we will finalise the cancellation schedule on Friday 18 August. These cancellations, and a reduction of the size of the required-reading list relative to last year, is intended to reduce your workload by a factor of 1/8 to compensate for this year's increase (from 7 to 8) of the number of courses taken by a fulltime student this year.
  • 15 Aug 06: The supervisor is planning a trip to Geneva, to attend a conference, during the week of 25-29 September. If the cancellations proposed immediately above are accepted, then the classes on Monday 25 September and Wednesday 27 September will be cancelled. The class of Friday 29 September will be handled by Dr Stephen Drape, who will assess one oral presentation and administer the sample final exam.
  • 20 July 06: Friday's lectures are 3-4pm, not 2-3pm!
  • 14 July 06: This course website is under construction. Some of the links on this page point to material from the 2005 offering of this class.
  • 14 July 06: There is some problem with nDeva enrolment into this class. We're trying to resolve it. Please be patient, and please attend the first lecture if you're trying to enrol.
  • 14 July 06: In accordance with departmental policy, there will be few photocopied handouts. Most handouts will be delivered online through this website.
