Transferring files with the hhcp command

The hhcp (host to host file transfer) command was previously widely used within the UK Academic Community, and also by some commercial organisations within Europe.

With the decline of the X.25 protocol, few sites are still running hhcp. This information is included only for completeness.

Although it is possible to use hhcp over Local Area Networks, it is mostly used to transfer files from one site to another over a Wide Area Network such as JANET.

Note

Information concerning the use of hhcp will only be of interest to users on the JANET network who still use this particular protocol.

At a JANET site where hhcp is the only file transfer program available? Fine, you can get access to Internet ftp through the Guest FTP Service at the University of London Computer Centre.
