Tests and Exams: COMPSCI 101 Semester 2, City Campus
Requirements for Passing the Course
To pass the course in 2020 you need to obtain at least 47% for your overall mark. There is no pass practical or pass theory requirement this semester.
- This is a practical computer-based test.
- All questions will be answered and validated using CodeRunner3.
- Worth 20% of your final grade.
- Date and Time: 6pm - 8:30pm on Tuesday 1st September
- Location: Your own environment
- The test is 2.5 hours long.
- Material covered: Lectures 1 to 12 (inclusive) and Labs 1 - 4 (inclusive)
- For security reasons you will not be able to access any of your previous CodeRunner exercises on the day of the test (from about 9am).
- You may access standard Python documentation (python.org)
- You may use IDLE to test your code before pasting it into CodeRunner.

- This is a practical "in person" computer-based test and is held on campus.
- All questions are answered and validated using CodeRunner3.
- Worth 25% of your final grade.
- Date and Time: 6pm - 8:30pm (NZ Time)on Tuesday, 27th October
- Location: Will be emailed to you by Angela Chang closer to the date.
- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
- Material covered: Lectures 1 - 27 (inclusive) and Labs 1 - 9 (inclusive) - but not tkinter or doctests
- Calculators, watches, and mobile phones are not permitted.
- Please turn OFF your phone and leave it in your bag.
- Please bring: pencils or pens and Student ID card.
- You may bring in a single sheet of A4 paper with hand-written(on one side only - other side blank)
- There will be no access to any Internet resources, your home drive or any USB devices.
- You may access standard Python documentation (python.org)
- You must complete the test without any aids or equipment other than those provided at the test room.
- You may use IDLE to test your code before pasting it into CodeRunner.
- You can create a Python file on the desktop if you wish to develop your code via IDLE before copying it into the CodeRunner answer box.
- Please remember to submit your test on CodeRunner3 before you leave the room.
- Please feel free to come and see any of the teaching staff if you need help understanding any of the course material.

- The final exam is worth 25% of your final mark.
- The exam is online (on CodeRunner3) for 2020.
- Date and Time: 5:45pm on Monday, 16th November, 2020.
- Time Allowed: 2 hours 30 minutes.

Important note: Tests and exams prior to 2020 were paper based tests, not online tests - and there was only one test rather than two. Questions from tests prior to 2020 may be useful for this semester's first online test and questions from exams prior to 2020 may be useful for this semester's second online test. The exam from 2020 Summer School will be useful for this semester's exam study.
