Lecture notes and assignments are all very well, but you can often learn more by tackling other problems and trying to work out the answers for yourself. What we have here is a collection of parts of old examination and test papers, and in many cases worked answers, with comments. For various reasons, the collection isn't complete, but what's here is what's available.
Those dated before 1997 are from the days of the old 340 course, before semesters, so they are not really representative of the current course. The old examinations were three hours in length, so contained more than this year's examination will; take that into account, or you might be inclined to panic. The old and new tests are about the same size.
( 1996 is omitted because Alan was away that year, so the course was even less representative than usual. )
We recommend that you try to answer the questions before you look at the answers.
