I'm a Professor in the
Department of Computer Science at the
University of Auckland in New Zealand.
The areas in which I do research and teach include database systems,
data mining, near real time processing, semistructured and unstructured data, and software engineering.
Research
I am involved in the following projects:
- data management for collaborative applications, such as Flikr, FaceBook
- real time data management required in systems for virtual worlds and data warehousing
- finding patterns in massive amounts of data, in particular in recommender systems and outlier detection
- defining and formally verifying the correctness of algorithms for novel applications, such as XML databases and web services
I have also been an active member on
various conference programme committees.
Student projects
I am keen to work with good students on any projects in the areas specified
above. In particular, I am looking for students to
work on these projects.
At the University of Auckland I have enjoyed supervising good students in
the following projects.
Selected publications
My publication list reflects the areas that I have
worked in. I am still actively interested in all these areas, so if you are
interested in working in any of them, let me know.
