Gill Dobbie's Home Page

I'm a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. The areas in which I do research and teach include database systems, data mining, near real time processing, semistructured and unstructured data, and software engineering.

Research

I am involved in the following projects:

data management for collaborative applications, such as Flikr, FaceBook
real time data management required in systems for virtual worlds and data warehousing
finding patterns in massive amounts of data, in particular in recommender systems and outlier detection
defining and formally verifying the correctness of algorithms for novel applications, such as XML databases and web services

I have also been an active member on various conference programme committees.

Student projects

I am keen to work with good students on any projects in the areas specified above. In particular, I am looking for students to work on these projects. At the University of Auckland I have enjoyed supervising good students in the following projects.
