Milford TrackHave a look at "best walk in the world", the Milford Track. |
Routeburn TrackThe Routeburn Track is one of the top five tracks in New Zealand. |
Doubtful Sound TrackThe original Doubtful Sound Track does not exist anymore, but there is still plenty to walk and see in that area. |
Kepler TrackThe Kepler Track offers a diverse landscape and is perfect for inexperienced trampers or people who didn't book in time for the Milford or Routeburn Track. |
This table contains a listing of my favourite day tramps in New Zealand.
Most of them are in the vicinity of Auckland and were done together with my church group. I have done many more walks and will add them over time :-)
Piha Valley WalkThe Piha Valley Walk is a relaxing 2 hour stroll close to Piha beach in the Waitakere Ranges (30min drive from Auckland City). |
Okura WalkwayThe Okura walkway is an easy and very scenic 3hour river/forrest walk (one way) close to Silverdale about 20-25km north of Auckland city. |
Duder Regional ParkThe Duder Regional Park is a 148-hectare coastal farm park located on the pohutukawa-fringed Whakakaiwhara Peninsula and offers spectacular 360 degree views of the Hauraki gulf reaching from Rangitoto island, to Waiheke island and the Coromandel. |
Eastern Bays WalkThe Eastern Bays Walk is not an official walk. I created the route by combining some of my favourite places in the Eastern Bay area of Auckland City. The walk starts in Auckland City (Queen Street) and ends at St. Helier, passing many of the nicest parks and bays in Auckland city. |
Point England WalkwayThe Point England Walkway is a lovely 3-4 hour walk along the Tamaki Estuary and several reserves towards St. Heliers Bay beach. The walk offers great views of East Auckland and the Waitemata harbour and passes mangroves and farmland. |
Lower Huia Dam CircleThe Lower Huia Dam circle is an easy 2 hour stroll starting at the car park at the base of the Lower Huia Dam. The track crosses dense forrest, passes a little water fall, and follows for a while the Nihotopu ridge with beautiful views of the Manukau habour. |
