What is Computer Science all about? Here are some pointers to introduce high school students and teachers to this vital subject.

High school students don’t need to know anything about computing before taking Computer Science at The University of Auckland. Computer Science isn’t offered as an NCEA subject yet but students can find out more about it by visiting these links:

The Computer Clubhouse
C-Clubhouse.jpg

The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe community-based learning environment where young people work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills and build confidence through the use of technology.

A Computer Clubhouse is a vibrant environment with elements of an artist's studio, inventor’s workshop, TV newsroom, architects’ office, robotics lab, and music studio. Activities are guided by current educational research showing that adolescents learn most effectively when engaged in designing projects, working collaboratively, and when given the opportunity to manage projects from beginning to end.
