Postgraduate Diploma Dissertation: COMPSCI 691 A and B Semester 1/2, City/Tamaki Campus
Aims of the Course
This is a two-semester course. Student should enrol in COMPSCI 691A and 691B. It is available to
students doing the PGDipSci programme.
The dissertation is an optional component of the Postgraduate Diploma in Science. It provides an introduction to individual research and study within a specialised field of Computer Science. As such, the student will work closely with an academic member of staff, developing their skills and knowledge in the agreed topic area. The form of study undertaken will vary widely, depending upon the chosen topic, which may require careful theoretical investigation or a large implementation.
Prerequisites: Departmental approval - Please see the Diploma Advisor before enrolment
Assessment: 100% coursework for a 30 - point dissertation
Supervisor: Students must find a staff member to supervise their dissertation.
Organisation
Students must make two oral presentations, one after three weeks and one towards
the end of the final semester. Students must deliver a final written report, the
assessment of which (if all other requirements are fulfilled) will determine their grade
for this course.
